How to utilize the analog input on USB-MC motion controller for the FRO function?

Thursday, 08 December 2016

USB-MC motion controller, among many enhancements and new functions that offers in comparison to classic input-output boards which are connected to LPT port, also has one analog input that can be use for various purposes. Using analog input it is possible to control:

  • SRO - spindle rate override,
  • FRO - feed rate override,
  • DRO - digital readout fields or
  • An arbitrary Mach3 variable.

In the following example the analog input is used for FRO (feed rate override) function so that a potentiometer is used to control the feedrate, i.e. machining speed during G-code execution. This example can be very useful for users that are accustomed to have a FRO control like used to be implemented on CNC machines of the old generation.

NOTE: Described function is also awailable for all Ethernet and USB line of Audioms Automatika motion controllers.
