MICROSTEP STEPPER MOTOR DRIVE MST-107

MST-107 is microstep drive for stepper motors. Control of a stepper motor is done via opto-isolated STEP/DIR/ENA lines. PWM mode with a frequency of 19 kHz ensures quiet operation.

On board DIP switches are used for selection of microstep resolution (1/1, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/16). This means that 200, 400, 800 or 3200 pulses are needed on the STEP line, for stepper motor with 1.8°/step to make a one revolution.

The drive can operate in slow-, mixed-, or fast-decay modes (selected by micro switches), which results in increased step accuracy and reduced power dissipation.

Stepper motor current is set in the range of 0.75 to 7.5 A by one external resistor.

Control of stepper motor is realised through 3-wire interface (step, direction and enable). This means that for multi-axis control can be using the already developed software such as Mach2, Mach3, TurboCnc (free), KCam and similar control software.

MST-107 can be connected to PC USB port via ETH-BOX motion controllerUSB-MC motion controller and USB-UIO1 breakout board or to a pallalel port (LPT) by using brakout board IO3-R3.

Drive output stage use powerful MOSFETs in TO220 package.

Drive reduces motor phase current to 50% of the set value when the motor is stopped more than 2 s. This reduces unnecessary heating of stepper motor.

Built-in soft start energizes stepper motor 1s after the arrival of the supply voltage, reducing electric shock at power up.

For currents above 3A per phase drive require additional heat sink.
